recouped mondays losses

My bankroll is back to pre monday levels of $430, plus I'm looking at some healthy rakeback coming in. Schweet!

I had to check myself today. I swear its like being a weed smoker and coming across a big fat sack of thats SKUNK #1 baby, and if you dont know about the skunk strain, its the BOMB. But back to my story. Its like being a weed smoker and coming across a free bud of skunk #1, but your on probation!

What am I talking about? I'm talking about my fiending for MTT over my bankroll. I saw a 15k guarantee on UB with ~120ppl at $109. I actually registered but was wait listed. In that time I came to my senses and unregistered. Only moments later to see a WSOP ME super sat running for $215. I didnt register, but damn it was hard.

For the record I used to smoke a shit load of weed when I was a heathen. I stopped smoking regularly long ago, and havent smoked in over a year even in a recreational environment. SO I have developed some self control, but its tough not to take that shot at the MTT's that I love so much.

Thats all I have for tonight, I'm crashing out so I dont have any future temptations this evening.
Good Luck to you, and thanks for reading my blog ;-)

not a good monday

I actually got to play a little today. In between mowing the lawn (It was a hot day, had to do it in sessions) and cooking dinner for the family. Unfortunately it wasnt all good.

I sat in a HU cashgame and played with a guy for a long time. I am not sure how many hands we had in but it was surely 1-200. He was actually a tough opponent and I we had about 250 in play on the table. The game went back and forth several times. Eventually I doubled thru him and had my initial stake back in hand. He departed and I was getting ready to go. I was taking some notes on him when another player sat in and my blind was auto posted. I checked in bb, and fodled on flop. the second hand I was dealt AA, and raised. The flop came out 8 4 2, and the turn was a 7. I managed to get this guy to put all his chips in and he showed Q8o. Lucky for me a Q came on the river, and now I was stuck for $50. I played a little more with the guy, and before I knew it he left (maybe 6 hands later). ... what a dick cheese.

anyway, I accidently sat at a .5/1 NL table. I figured its no different than a $50NL table. I bought in for $50 originally but decided I needed a max buyin. After I got stacked with my AAQQ vs a set of ducks, I realized how much different it was. I rebought, hoping to catch a good hand, but ended up leaving down ~150 on the 100nl table. Not again until I have a 2k bankroll....

I played some $50NL and was able to pull back from the darkness. I stacked a guy with 44466 over 22266 when we both flopped a set, and rivered the boat. I bet out 10 into a 15 pot, he raised me up to 28, and i pushed on him.

I ended up finishing the day -$80, which was my own fault. I witnessed something interesting while playing tonight. I was playing with this super aggro player, and I had position on him. I pretty muc hlet him bet my hands for me and threw in a slighlty bigger than min raise on the turn or river. This guy ended up getting stuck bad. I added him to my friends list b/c he seemed like a juice ball.

I noticed him pop onto another table 10-15mins later, this time he was sitting at a 1/2nl table. I think I was originally playing with him on the 100nl or 50nl (I dont quite recall). Just to be a dick I popped on and asked him if he was chasing his losses. He replied that he was, but couldnt help it. He left his table a couple of hands later, and joined a table with just 2 players. Again this was a 1/2NL table. He had 68 infront of him (presumably his whole br. He was still playing a hyper aggro game. He managed to get a few hands, and steal a few more and had 120 in front of him.

He got involved in a hand with a player, who I'm sure had became aware of his hyper tendencies by now. On a flop of 2 clubs middle cards, he bet and was raised. He pushed, and was called after a little deliberation. The other player showed top pair, good kicker (possibly straight draws) and he showed J high flush draw and was busted. WHAMM! It was like watching a high speed police chase, you are just waiting for the crash. I knew it was coming. I kinda felt bad for the guy.

I like to take shots, and am severly under funded right now, but I dont get my self into a situation where I am no longer able to play. I'm ok with playying the micro limits if I jack up my bankroll, but am hoping that maybe I can pull in a little profit at another limit and help boost my br, and hopefully permenantly move me up in limits. I dont play higher limits in a n effort to chase my losses. I think its just not a good idea. I know my thought processes arent quite right after losing(ecspecially to bad beats), and moving up will just complicate the situation.

I took a shot tonight, it didnt work out, and I jumped back down. Now my br is smaller, and if I go even smaller I will have to adjust accordingly. Hopefully though I can recoup my losses, and move on. I am sure I will take shots in the future, but at this point I am not going to take an more shots at 100nl until I have a significantly larger bankroll.

Well thats all I have, I'm going to cut this short and crash. I need to get my 5 hours of sleep. I feel like I am so tied that my thoughts are just getting all jumbled up.

Apparently I have got in more play this month than any other months since ~nov. I am picking up my largest rakeback payment in sometime for my play this month (2 days left), so that will be a nice little boost to the br.

Good Luck to you!

home game report

Played the home game yesterday. All hte gmaes we play are a winner take all format, unless first and second want to work something out.

The first game we played a 9 man $20 rebuy with 1/2 starting chips for rebuy. WE started with 2k in chips, and you had to bust before you could rebuy. I ended up busting early against a CS when I had JJ and he called a turn push with bottom pair K6o a pair of 6's. He caught a set on the river and I was busto. I rebought, but never got anything ot work with. When I rebought the blins were 50/100, and some of the players wre already on big stacks. I madea
push on the bb with AsQs into a family pot. the calling station called me with 66, and I didnt improve.

The second game we played a $20 7 man freezeout. The first game lasted so long that we decided this one should have more of a turbo structure. That meant skipping 2 of the early blind levels. This would have been fine if we got in more than 3 hands per blind level. I ended up getting killed when I lost one pot (again with JJ, against the CS bad hand.) and was down to 1100. The blinds got to me and were 200/400. I folded my blind to a 3 way push with 62o. In the SB I put all my chips in with Kc9c. I didnt improve and was out.

The third game we played a little different. It was only a $10 freezeout, which is the lowest stakes game I have ever seen played at this home game. One of the guys was going to leave, and had been paying for his GF to play. I guess the host wanted more ppl to play so they lowered the buyin to keep him around. He was already stuck for $120, and is genereally a low stakes player.

This game we started with $50 in chips and 7 players. The blinds started at 1/2 and went up everytime someone busted. The blind levels were slow at 1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10. I really like this game there was some room for play. We lost 2 players back to back and were at the 3/6 level quick. I hung back waiting for godd hands or good position. I managed knock out the calling station my first hand I was involved with with his meager holding vs my straight. We were down to the 4 best players.

I like the fact that only good players remained. Players who were actually capable of laying down middle pair. I was able to pick of a couple of medium sized pots with position when I sensed weakness. Before long I had over 1/2 the chips in play. I was kidding around with the guys and the BB player madea smart (but in jest) comment, I looked down and saw As9s and told him if thats how it was then he was all in "b/c thats how I roll" HE only had 31 chips behind and I was on ~169. it folded back to him and he called with KTo. The flop was AxJx3x. He was calling for a Q but it didnt come and I was now behind a bigger stack.

I was squeezing the short stack. Letting him see a flop, but putting him allin on the turn. He was the dealer in a 3 way hand and pushed for 31. I was the bb and had put in 10, and the sb called. I had intended on checking it down. and called with 84o. I caught an 8 on the flop with a ragged board. action was checked around. I caught a 4 on the urn and it was checkecd to me. I looked at the chips and knew if I picked up this pot I would have a 4:! chip advantage. I also realized that the sb would likly call if he had any of the board since it was so ragged. I decided to push. I also knew the sb would likely call just to get another game started. They had talked of playing the same game again but a real $50 cash freezeout.

He called and had 9's, the turn was a K giving dealer top pair, and I took it down for $70, leaving me exactly even for my session :-p better than being a loser.

There was some wagering on the race and PHX DAL game too, but I didnt get in on any of that. both had interesting outcomes though.

I know I will probably be picking up a little traffic from the BPT victory. IF any of you want to do a link exchange post a comment and add me to your blog roll and I will do the same.

Its race Day

I'll catch it on TV, not going to go play in traffic.

night post

I had intended on following up on my mtt win, but now im tired. MY house has been full of kids tonight, and they wore my nerves thin. My wife babysitted a 2yr old and a 9 month old, and my daughter had a friend stay the night. Throw in my heathen son, and its been an experience. I didnt play much after my earlier win. rather watched Walk the Line. Its an alright movie, probably could have been better, but i still enjoyed watching it.

2 things about the poker.com tourney. Those things polay like a turbo IMHO, 1000 starting chips 10 min blinds and slow software make for a move or die situation quick. They do have some cool features, but I jsut found the play horrendously slow. the other thing I would like to say is, they have very fast cashouts, which I wasnt expecting. Kudos, and they didnt make me jump through any silly hoops to get my $ in my neteller acct.

So thats about all I have. I think I was able to recoup my cash game losses, I picked up a couple $'s on poker.com playing $50NL, but couldnt stand the speed. I played acouple of hands at UB and made a couple more $'s. I havent done any math at this point, and dont really care. My bankroll is now ~$430. ITs a great improvement from where I was a week ago for sure.

Playing the home game tommorrow, hopefully that will add to my br too. If not its worth the cost of addmission for the entertainment and food :-)

more poker today than normal

I was getting killed in the csah games this morning, mostly the result of being card dead and getting sucked out on with my good hands. The result was equivalent to getting stacked twice, although I never got my whole stack in.

I was lucky enough to grind it back out but still down $27 in my cash games.

I also played a freeroll the Blogger Poker Tour. I was lucky enough to take it down! I caught a big stack when we were down 2 tables, and put the heat on.

That was good enough for $125, and a ticket to a final event. I am going to make another post later tonight, but was pretty psyched about my win and wanted to post it.

hit my target

bumped up over $300 tonight, after a long slump. It was probably one of my longer sessions of the week with 406 hands. I was playing 2 tables for part of it and quite a bit of HU play involved. That pushes variance and # of hands.

I only finished the session up ~$27.70. Its an estimate because a little bit of my play I forgot to start the hh box so that pahud could grab the hands, and the table broke after just a little play.

I transfered out $100+$5.25 to neteller. This is so that I can play in a home game sunday. Alot of people around here go to the race (Indy 500) but growing up within earshot of the track, I'd rather be playing poker. I am still on the fence though if I should go play. The games usually vary between $20 and $50 buyin, and the games play like a turbo b/c the players are so damn slow.

The host said he isnt inviting the ppl who are more interested in drinking than playing, but that can be -EV or +EV depending how you look at it. The last time I played this game I came home a winner for about +$200. I definetly think I am one of the stronger players. On the other hand, my bankroll is small, and I dont want to mess with moving such a significant portion of it around.

I'll probably go ahead and go, maybe just take $40 and committ to playing to $20 freezeouts, who knows...

I had one hand that I thought I played great tonight, the other guy even commented on how I sucked him in. I didnt get his whole stack, which I probably could have, but I got most of it.

So those were my biggest winner(s) and loser. here is a chart of my session in $'s since I played 2 different limits.

was able to grind out a c-note today

Total real money $279.00
Pending Bonus Dollars $87.05

total hands: 258

I put in another couple of hands tonight. I got stuck early playing heads up before my table filled. And then I had to battle the short stacks. I was able to over come my losses and booked my win once I showed $100 profit.

I had more money in play than I would have liked. I was giving excellent implied odds too anyone who had more than the max buyin. I was also out of position of one of the better players.
I'll take my positve session and run with it. I am still feeling run down from my sinus issue.

here is my chart for the day (I'll take it), I was looking at my chart for the year and had a monster downswing but have been recovering the last 10k hands. I might post that at the end of June.

I ws looking over my pokertracker stats. I was dissapointed to see that I am showing a $!27 loss for the year in my cash games. Although I have booked and $1800, a $400, a $850, and a couple of other smaller MTT wins.

All I can say is thank god for rakeback. My rakeback payments for the year are probably ~1500.

whats crazy about my stats is that I am showing a +2.2bb winrate. but an overall loss. My biggest loser is 2/4 6 max limit for -$170 amd .5/1 limit for -$152. I'm beating all other games, show the most profit at $50NL of ~$500 over 5k hands winning at 9.91bb/100.

Well thats all I have, gl!

making up for being card dead yesterday

yesterday was slow and non producitve. I was going over my hand histories and over my 300+ hands I had AA once, AK, once, and no other good pockets above TT.

so today I sit in for a short session when I got home from work. My wife has a home daycare and I got home early.

I started a 6max $25NL and bought in for $25. I also started a 6max $50NL and bought in for $25. The $50 saw action first so I left the 25.

I was able to run up my 25 buyin quick, and saw a ~$90 profit. Most of that was from me running KK into QQ with position :-)

here is the HH.

a terrible grind

played a session tonight and it started out rough. 200 hands later and I was just arely even. I am thankful for rakeback and bonuses, at least I scrapped out a small profit.

I used my profit to sit in a 5k gaurantee $5MTT... otherwise known as the 5k donkey strike.

So here is my session graph.

below is some of the madness I saw in the MTT. I doubled up my first hand, and then witnessed the mayhem that folllowed which led to my demise on the last hand history.

dont have a clear mind tonight

so I cut my session rather short. This sinus infection/allergy issue is kicking my ass.

I managed to put in about 80 hands while my wife watched american idol, and the kids were in bed.

My pahud was acting all kind s of screwed up tonight. and wasnt displaying half the time. I thought I should just call it a night. I am going to catch a session of live at the bike and maybe watch a poker training video.

I flopped quad sixes tonight, and only picked up a small pot. I think the A that flopped withthem scared of the other player. He bet pot when I checked it to him. but folded to a 1/2 pot value bet on the turn.

I managed to squeak out a small profit by being patient and doing what I do. Zeke's advice helped me to remember to do what I should be doing.

Anyway, I done for the night. A friend just hit me up and is playing a $30r on paradise so I am going to rail him for a while.

my bankroll is now at
Total real money $168.33
Pending Bonus Dollars $97.47

good luck!

bankroll motivation

I have noticed that my bankroll dilemma is forcing me to play better. Unfortunately the converse is also true, when I have a healhy bankroll I find myself playing looser and making calls and plays that I know are just wrong.

Anyway, I had a short session today, about 3-400 hands. I'm not exactly sure because I had problems with my pahud skipping hands. I was going to post a graph and realized that it only showed about 1/2 of my profit.

I am feeling better about my play, and being patient and making good reads/plays. I managed to pull down a reasonable profit in relation to my bankroll today. Unfortunately, I am forced to play above my bankroll, unless I grind out the penny tables.

I can not find myself at the penny tables playing bingo. So I have opted to play $25NL or $50NL and short buy.

Having a short stack has advantages. First, you are not giving the right implied odds for ppl to chase hands. Second when you make your hands, others are usually getting the pot odds that require them to call. Its definetly a different game than the big stack game I had been playing.

I dont min buy, but usually 40-50% of the max or 40-50bb. So today I picked up an extra $46 for the bankroll and am now at $134.50. So I am sitting on 5.5 buyins to the $25 NL game. I have just a little more breathing room, and with some patience might be able to grind that up to $300 by the weekend.

I'm calling it a night, I have been dealing with some allergies/sinus issues and took some meds that are causing me to be rather drowsy. Hope fully I can shake my bad game habits along with this sinus problem.

Good luck!

so im back

Last week I wasnt around. I signed up for prison camp, or 4th grade camp. It was an interesting experience. One of the parents who went along called it Child Appreciation Camp, because you appreciate how well behaved your children are compared to the general popluation.

It was nice ot get away from the game, and clear my mind. I got back on friday and didnt play at all. I played just a little on saturday. I had a private freeroll tournament lined up but ended up not playing because we went to a friends house for dinner and played some cards.

I did play a little today but never produced alot. I played 4 $5 STT's. I blanked in 2, and took first and second in the other 2. I played a $5 MTT and finished ~300 of 1000. I got wolloped with several bad beats but the hand I went out on was a result of bad play on my part.

My bankroll is $88 right now, its a meager amount. I am not sure how I should proceed. Basically I need to get lucky on go on a heater, or I'm going to be busto. I do have another $50 in rakeback coming, but that wont be for several more weeks.

I think I am going to conitinue my hiatus and not play much this week. I have a couple of big projects going on at work, and would be better off focusing on those.

Monday, May 15, 2006

can I stop the hemorage?

Dont have much to say, just that this week was terrible.

I played like shit, and had a few bad beats, but mostly I played like shit.

My bankroll is pretty much destroyed. I am down to $100, which is up from my low of $30, but that is mainly due to a rakeback payment.

I played about 30 HU sng's and won 19. I got a little too confident and lost a $55 HU.

I wont be playing any this week, I'm going camping with my daughters 4th grade class. I can definetly use the break.

Nothing but headsup

So I have only played heads up since last night.

Including my 3 matches last night, I have played a total of 9 matches.

I played 4 $5.25 and won 3 of them.
I played 4 $10.5 and won 3 of them.
I played 1 $21 and won.

I am up $46 over my 9 matches a 54.8% ROI. Obviously the $20 skews the results, but I'll take it.

I think I am going to continue to play HU's for thru the weekend.

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

i will be the donkey king

I just owned 3 for 3 in the $5 HU STT's, but to humble myself I admit my opponents sucked and were very predicatable.

I think I might mess around there for a while. The unfavorable thing is I dont get rakeback on STT's, but the rake is pretty small, and I am pretty sure at thsi level I come out ahead.

move along people nothing to see here....

No rubber necking, looking at the train wreck. In other words I have compounded my bankroll management fallacies. God maybe deep down I like it in some sick and twisted way.

Well its time for me to tuck tail and play donkey poker again. I am not down to a critical bankroll level, and have to step down, way down. At least in terms of level of play. I will be playing the $10NL tables for a while, my bankroll is down to just under $200.

It sucks, I know the $109 was obviously a bad move, but the other $300 was a klck in the nuts.

I played $25NL tonight and got sucked out on severely. I couldnt win a hand no matter how I played it.

O well, maybe I will play low level hu sitngo;s for a while.

later...

Tuesday, May 09, 2006

ok look out for the T-I-L-T

god I had a horrible session tonight.

I lost $60 at a 6max table.

dumped out in 69th in a $109 MTT, even though i told my self i wouldnt play any for a while. The sick part was I was playing great and lost it.... I think the tourney started with ~180, 4 hands before I busted I was in about 20th place.

Then I decide to sit at a HU NL table, and lost $100 and the player I was playing bounced. Shitty.... I sat at another table but after playing a couple of hands I found myself being weak, and steaming.

Actually after looking at my chart my losses werent that huge, but still sucked. I recouped my earlier losses from the hit and runner, I shoud have bailed on him, but after losing a couple of big hands it brought me back in the hole.

HA Double edit: I had my original graph set up wrong and it was total losses from yesterday and today. now the shit looks bad.... and unlike below I did figure out my bankroll, its down to about $300 and now I am going to drink 2 beerS!

I did step down, but didnt feel like that was enough.

Anyway, I decided it best to quit playing and come back in a better frame of mind tommorrow.

Here is the shitty results + a $109 loss for the MTT (man I love playing bigger buyin tourneys!, the play is a lot better IMHO)

I am going to chalk it up to the game and drink a beer. I figure I'm better off coming back another day.

I dont know what the total affect on my bankroll was, but I have a feeling I will be back playing $25NL for a week or so.

2 tears in a bucket!

what a swingy session

It was funny my wife was sitting next to me while i was play and i had my chart up.

After 11 hands she says "damn, have a bad day?" I didnt really respond just gave her a little smirk.

so here is the first hand that caused a slide:

Now obviously I was on a flat out bluff. My opponent had played almost every hand leading up to this one fast and I originally thought he was on a weaker hand. When I made the raise I figured if he didnt have a hand he would get off of it. When I made the raise he commented "thanks" and I knew I was dead and even though it was only $6 to call and I had alread committed $16 to the pot I elected to save myself. HE showed the hand and I really didnt expect to see him with 33.

About hand #60 I got caught in another unsuccessful bluff. I guess I was growing antsy b/c of the lack of hands leading up to this point. I didnt notice that my opponents stats were over 60% VP$P, and doesnt fold hand 65% of the time. a major bluffing disaser waiting to happen. Anyway that killed me and here is how the hand went down.

this hand put me back in the black and I continued to play on the same table. I grounded myself from any more donkey play. I was able to win a few more smaller pots. It was tough though b/c 1.2 the table bought in short. I hardly got implied odds to play any live drawing hands, and for the most part folded.

Even with the donkey plays I put in this was one of my weak/tight games. Its not really my style but really didnt get any good hands. I did go on a little rush of good cards but couldnt get action. I was also offering the short stacks great implied odds, and took the worst of it more than once. Here is an example. If the other player involved had more chips I would have put on the brakes and folded, but as it was I figured if he didnt have the $ card I could just take down the pot and move on.

To my dismay he flopped the nuts and I doubled him up. The hand above is the last slide in my chart.

It was a shorter than normal session, but I had to bust out some yardwork tonight after working thru a tough monday pulling 11 hours in the office. I am probably better off not playing anymore tonight and just chalking up my profit.

I might rail a high stakes game or live at the bike for a little while I suck down a Guinness, or perhaps watch a poker training video. Other than that my session is over.

My bankroll has cleared the $500 mark once again, and with a referral bonus and rakeback I am expecting this week I will be well over $600. I am feeling releaved since I will almost be within a proper bankroll range to be playing the $50NL tables that I am currently at ;-) I know its a risky proposition I am currently taking, but am williing to accept the consequences should things go south.

Knocked out a positive session

I got in 3 sessions today, one of about300 hands and 2 shorter 100 hand sessions.

I finished out in the black and I definetly prefer that to the alternative.

Yesterday I got my newest issue of cardplayer, there was an interesting article on making the transition from limit to NL. One of the lines in the article read something to the effect that NL is the fishes favorite game because it is what they see on TV and have the most exposure too. NL seems simple and alot of the nuances get overlooked by the novice player. How true, like mike madasow says "god bless, chris moneymaker".

Anyway I'm wrapping up and wanted to post my daily progress.

Looking at the graph you can see I was able to stack a couple of people. Its those big hands that make a session profitable.

I was lucky to never get stacked, but around hand 144 I was at a table with a maniac who loved to come back over the top. I was probably playing a little weak tight and laid down a winner more than once.

My biggest winner for the day: (warning suckout artist ahead)

This guy was pissed, and started to talk shit in the chat. My response "reload". He had been playing s00ted cards like they were the nuts and I thought he was on another draw with them. I thought I had the best hand and had the gut shot redraw working also. Obviously when his bottom 2 pair was counterfitted it hurt him.

my biggest loser:

this is one of the hands aroung #144 against the over the top guy

just wanted to add to my post below

I reviewed my stats since april1, and pretty happy overall. I relaly feel like I am getting on top of my 6max nl game. It was basically the only thing I played during april and I would like to think I faired pretty well.

here is my chart :

This excludes my tournament play which with my small victory definetly ended in the black.

skeet skeet

ok time to check the balances

So I am calling an end to my weekly session. Below are my charts for the week. I didnt get alot of play in. No play at all yesterday, or wednesday. Only limited play during the week. Giving me a small # of hands with only 1,642.

The extent of my multitabling was 2 tabling 25NL. For the most part I single tabled though so that I could keep an eye on the play and avoid costly mistakes. Obviously my bankroll is a little short to be playing 25 and 50 NL tables, but I am confident in my play and willing to step down if I get in a critical situation.

My profit shows $150, however this doesnt take into consideration any of my tournament play.

My tournament play was kind of scarce this week, and will probably be that way until I get my br back up. I invested $43 in tournament entries, and cashed $0. I did win a $10 prop bet and will count that towards my tourney fees. so I am out $33 in tourney fees.

Taking this into consideration my profit for the week was $127. I am going to withdraw half of that (or $63) should just about cover mothersday dinner for my wife ;-)

I am pretty happy with my play. I was unfortunate and took some bad beats (not the ski slopes) but didnt tilt and was able to recover. Today I played a ton of heads up cash NL, and never finished with the worst of it. I am getting extremely confident in my heads up game, and hope that it contributes to my bankroll in a healthy fashion.

Playing cash heads up games does have a lot of disadvantages though.

#1 the rake is killer, I played 1 guy for about an hour and I am sure the total rake was over $50, but I finished with a profit :-p. I also get rakeback so some of this finds its way back to me, but only about 15%.

#2 you get hit and runners. I hate this, usually someone will buyin short and try to double up. If they hit a hand they leave. The only fortunate thing is usually these players suck, and more often than not I am able to stack them or at least stay ahead before they decide to move on.

Playing against a short stack in a nl hu cash game is tricky, but its just another part of the game worth mastering. It improves my big stack play and helps to refine some more advanced moves invloved in setting traps and inducing my opponent to shipit :-p

Well thats about all I have now. I am going to exclude my bonus clearing from my weekly profit and as it stands now my bankroll is $352.92 plus some change stuck in some unaccounted accounts.

limited session tonight

I started my session at 9 wanting to play a tournament or 2.

I registered for a tournament on UB, and was waitlisted. while waiting i realized it was a rebuy NL omaha tourney. Since I was also registered for a $3r on stars I decided I probably shouldnt play 2 different games and unregistered.

Since I only found the 1 MTT to play I fired up a $25NL table on UB to play while I played my stars MTT.

I didnt see any good cards during the rebuy period. When we were upon the last 4 or 5 mins I decided to gamble since I was in late position and pushed with any 2 that looked half way reasonable. I didnt win 1 race, and started the end of the rebuy with exactly 5k in chips.

I have made it thruogh these tourneys before starting the end of the rebuy with the 5k, just by being patient. This time however I put some chips in and was pushed off my hand twice by the same player. The third time he did it I decided to take a stand and we were racing. I dont think he realized the rebuy was over b/c he had A7 s0000ted. My KQ didnt improve and when he hit an A on the turn I was done.

I went to check my damage on my rebuy madness and I was in for 11 rebuys including my addon. so thats a $33 net loss.

To add to that I took a hit early in my cash game of about $20. I stuck it out though and closed that down to $9, before switching tables. The table I was on was full of fish buying in for the min buyin. Just retarded, I could hardly get implied odds to get involved in a pot without a pocket pair. I had about 100 hands invested in this table before I left.

I switched to another table and had a nice mix of ppl join in with reasonable stacks. Except for 1 short stack who complained about getting sucked out on when he only bought in for $5. I kinda harped on him b/c I was steaming aboutthe previous table. I only told him he didnt have room to complain when buying in for the min. If he was confident in his game he would buyin for more.

Not long after I got involved in a hand with him where I had AJ, the flop came JTx, the turn was a J, and I pushed him almost all in (like $3). He said is that all and put in his other quarter. Anyway I was dissapointed to see he had JT.

I wasnt dissapointed b/c I lost the pot, but b/c I didnt get that seat opened. So he stuck around for a while.

My vindication was about to come though when the following hand went down.

I dodged him having a straight, but figured he wouldnt have got that far on a straight draw.

He left, rather than reloading....

I played for a while longer, but quit when I had in about 250 hands on that table and left with a little profit. My pokertracker shows a $11 profit, but I have already determined that it misses UB hands regularly. I left with a $36 profit on my last table, and when figuring in my previous loss I think I added about a $25 profit.

Overall though I am down for the night when including my rebuy MTT, I will call it a -$10 session.

I seem to do better at the ring games more consitently, and should stop playing the miro MTT. The play is so unpredictable, it really is a mine field. I think I am going to try to commit myself to not playing any MTT's lower than $50 unless they have an overlay (ha, fat chance of a micro having an overlay). Obviously I cant afford a $50 MTT habit right now, so I am going to focus on building up the bankroll during May.

Possibly by the end of May I will be able to swing more MTT's. I do have acouple of private MTT's I plan on playing and will continue to take shots at those.

Withour getting a hard # my bankroll still sits around $300. I wont be playing tommorrow, b/c I get to go shopping with the wife (yay! not)

rather than skip an entry

I will just make a quick non detailed post.

I played a MTT tonight, made it in kind of deep but not to the $. I busted out 134 of 618. I was steaming on my last play getting my $ in with 88 against a limper holding KK. The table had been playing hyper-aggro so I cant necessarily be upset that he limped. After all, I paid him off with my middle pair.

I always hate when I play a hand badly against a bigger stack and it costs me my tournament.

After steaming for 10-15 mins. I played a STT, and went out ~6th. bunk.....

anyway, I sat at a shorthanded NL game and recouped my MTT/STT buyins and a couple of big blinds. I am now calling it a night.

No poker tommorrow. I have to help a friend move some furniture... ughhh not looking foward to it, but he promises to provide libataions at the local brew pub so I can manage.

Thursday I will be going to a recital that my daughter is putting on. So there will probably be no poker then either.

Friday, I have to go shopping with my wife as my punishement for going to the casino this past weekend.

It looks like I wont get in any play until Saturday. O well, I can use a little break. I will probably watch some poker training videos, and maybe live at the bike.

My bankroll hasnt changed, still around $300, and I am anticiapting some rakeback payments in the next week or so. I think my rakeback will be about $100, but I havent checked so I am not 100% sure.

Good luck at the tables! and thanks for wasting a little time reading my blog!

I'm back...

Havent posted in a couple of days due to no play.

I hadnt played in a couple of days when I went down to the casino on saturday. I left early in the morning about 6:00, stopped and ate some breakfast on my way. It was about a 2 hour drive to Caesars. The were holding the midwest reginal championships.

I arrived just after 8:30, and went straight to the pokerroom. I had never played live before and when I arrived at the desk asked what type of games they had spread. By looking around I could tell that it was still early and they only had about 5 games going. I also if they rated poker players. I was informed I needed a players card, I asked to be put on the waiting listfor a 1/2 nl game and went back to the desk where they do those type of things.

At the desk there were a couple of drunk mid-twenties hillbillies. Quite the entertainers while I waited in line to get my player card. I then headed back down and when I checked the board for where I was in the que they announced they were putting together a $120 STT. I thought I would give it a shot, and figured they paid first and second.

Well the STT was a winner take all with 15min blinds and 1000 starting chips. The blinds strated at 25/25 and followed a reasonable schedule but this was no doubt a turbo.

There was a lot of entertaining banter at the table. Several of the players were involved in a last longer. I opted not to participate b/c I figured I might need my $ for another STT or 3. I came out fast and caught some cards about 6 hands in. I knocked out hte first player and had the chip lead. I managed to pick up several other pots and held out fairly well.

Before I knew it we were down to 3 players. One player had a significant chip stack, I think he knocked out 4 players and I had knocked out 3. He ends up knocking out he third guy bringing us heads up. Half Jokingly I asked if he wanted to chop, since he had me out chipped at this point 3:1. He paused for about 3 seconds and said sure why not. Sweet! I had my buyin for the Mega satellite. I might note that this player had been killing a cash game before the STT and had 3 racks of chips I would guess at least 4-5k.

I ended up tryin another STT with a $65 buyin, which was even more of a turbo with 800 starting chips. I didnt fair so well in that one.

I registered for the Mega Satellite, it was a $550 buyin and a satellite to a $5k ME. The mega started with 2k in chips and 30 min blinds. I was able to double up early. I was confident in my game and played great.

I made some good reads (althoughI dont have time to go into them now :-( I have to get to bed soon). I managed to become the table captain at my table and in very good shape.

I was really dissapointed when I busted out 23 of 106 though. Only 10 places paid the ME entry with the leftover going to 11th place.

My table was playing real tight, with several short stacks. I had seen several walks, although I was never lucky enough to get one. I was on the button and a player 2 to my right limped in for 600. The blinds were 300/600 with a 75 ante. I held QT and I had about 14k in chips. I raised it up to 2800. He thought and called. I was actually hoping he would lay down his hand like he had done so many othertimes when his limp was raised.

The flop came down 79K. Not bad I flopped a gutshot. He checked and I bet out another 3k. He called. I was concerned that he held a K at this point. The turn was a T, giving me at least a little something. He checked and I checked behind him hoping to hit my gut shot on the river. The river was another T, giving me a set. He checked and I gave it some thought. I decided to go for the push and figured unless he hit a set on the flop I was golden. WRONG! I totally forgot about the infamous J8! and my opponent hit a straght on the Turn.

O well that the way it goes sometimes. I did have my opponent covered, but only by 75 and I was all in the next hand with the ante's. I felt that I played a great game, and loved the experience. I wouldnt trade it for anything and look foward to playing more live tournaments.

I played with a couple of pro-players and met some nice people. I am going to try and play at least 1 live tournament a month.

I did hit a bad session at the 1/2 NL table after my mega bustout. It was tough, and lost when I was getting my $ in with the best hand. I never went broke, but was definetly sucked out on, and paid off a river bet more than once. I wont base my success on 1 session though.

My bankroll is back down, but it was 100% worth it IMHO. I have $300 in my br right now, and have stepped down to $25NL. If I hit $200 I am going to step down further, but am fairly confident I can build it back up.

I only put $225 back in my online br, yesterday and am back up to $300. I am going to implement a 50% weekly profit cashout plan. Any profit I have over my $225 next sunday night I am going to cashout 1/2 and use it for whatever. It may be for a live tourney or to take my wife out to dinner. I am just going to make sure I start to cashout at least weekly. If I hit a big tournament score I am going to cashout 75% of it. I just feel like it is time to start rewarding myself for my progress. I am going to exclude rakeback from my withdraw calculations.

I know I have rambled long enough, I am tired and not thinking the clearest, and have no plans of proofing my entry. Anyway, good luck at the tables!
