I am working with a small bankroll again. some shortcomings in STT's have knocked me down. I decided to go and see if i could find any good offers for free $ or bonuses.

lost a couple of buyins this weekend to the $13 double shoot outs to the million.

I played a ton of stud h/l. no major results though.

I have decided to go back to playing short handed nl on UB, so that i can pick up rakeback.

At the same time, I am not going to be playing much at all the next month. My wife is due with our new baby girl tommorrow. She goes in to the dr tuesday, and will be induced prior to this coming sunday. I am going to have a ton going on trying to balance work, 2 kids, a new baby, and letting my wife get some rest and recouperation. Poker is going to take a back street to all of these more important issues.

I am going to try to play the stars vip freerolls, and maybe 1 30 min session of 6 max nl each week. This may or may not happen, but its about the extent of my poker goals for september.

i had a rough session on the horse tables. a couple of sick calling stations. rather rediculous. I was at teh point where i didnt even want to bet my hand because showing dow n in a 5 way pot i figured one of the idiots was going to suck out on me.

a lossing day

i ended up dropping 28 bb over 2 sessions. I forgot to grab my stats for the first session, but here are the stats for second session.

During current Stud H/L session you were dealt 368 hands and:

I really want to get pokertracker stud, but cant afford to pull $60 out of my br for it right now.

I was playing 2-3 tables tonight. at one point another player stated that a nother player on the table was requesting to play hu with me in a $50 stt. obviously this would be ludacris given my bankroll. but i found it funny. It didnt take me long to figure out the other player had revoked chat privledges and it was probably for steaming and talking shit to other players.

i went through the rest of the session telling him he shouldnt steam, and that its not good for his health. now this could cause him to steam more, but i really meant it. its so pointless to get worked up over a poker GAME to the point that your blood pressure is bulding, your thoughts and judgement are blurred and you are no longer focusing on the GAME but rather vengance.

I used to have a terrible temper, and at the time a total disregard for the law or well being of others. (Hence the nickname scaryjerry) It ended up getting me into trouble, obviously this is a natural progression. I was fortunate enough to never kill anyone, and when I injured others it could be interpretted as self defense during the times that law enforcement became involved.

I did pickup a couple of charges though, and it resulted in a one year anger management program. Its kind of funny though, because the program was only a 6 month program but they gave me double.... So I got to hear everything twice.

At the time I thought it was a total bullshit program. Towards the end I can definetly say it had a positve influence on me. I learned some conflict resolution techniques and how to deal with my anger and adrenaline. It wasnt a magic remedy by any means. I would still have situations that came up where I would go over the edge, but they werent as often.

I took this class 10-9 years ago. Over the years I have learned how to deal withthings a little better, and how to avoid those situations that would likely send me over the edge. I also learned to deal with the minor annoyances that in the big picture dont really matter and arent worth getting worked up over.

I think the people that steam at the poker table are the same fools that have road rage. The cant see the big picture and come to the realization that in the short term its sucks when someone sucks out on you (or cuts you off) but in the long term its not going to affect your destination.

I am at the point in my poker playing where if someone sucks out on me through terrible play the most extreme thing I will say is "solid" or "gh". Even then its rare that I make those comments, less than 5% of the time. Why bring attention to the fish at the table or scare them off?

Personally, I play poker because I enjoy it; win or lose. I couldnt imagine enjoying it if I spazzed out everytime some idiot sucked out on me, and felt like i had to berate them and head hunt.

It's just not worth it, in the long run the only person you are affecting with this type of behavior is yourself. Your causing yourself to put extra mileage on your body, and affecting your enjoyment of the game.

grinded out a profit tonight

I am going to pick up pokertracker stud so that I can track my wins/losses win rate etc.

I did pick up about 50bb's tonight. I didnt play any stt's or mtt's. I played stud h/l and except for a couple of hands ran over my opponents. It amazes me that ppl will call down with middle pair. I had a couple of nice scoops, but am to tired to look them up. This is one of the reason I want to pick up ptstud.

I am close to getting silver vip status. something i never really concerned myself with. but now that i am close i am going to push through. I only need 287 more fpp's. i am sure i can pick that up with 1 or 2 more sessions of 2 tabling.

Honestly I feel that if you are a gambler, whether its a sportsbettor, pokerplayer, blackjack player, horse bettor, etc and you renig on an agreement or wager associated with gambling then you deserve to have your ass kicked. A $20 renig is worth a dot in the eye, 6 mil renig would be enough to put somone over the edge and dot your mom in the eye or worse.

This guy hyped up that the $ wasnt important to him, yada yada yada. Why doesnt he pay the ppl he promised? I hope the new spokesman for poker mans up and pays his people.

need an oil change

I wasnt even going to play today. I did though after the wife and kids went to bed. i ran so bad today.... o so bad.... i wont go into the details. I am not busto though. I threw on the brakes. I stopped playing horse. I think I have an edge but not enough to warrant playing over my bankroll.

I played a $6 turbo and got no love from mr jones. I went down and played lower limit stud h/l. My best limit game. Lower variance, and more of an edge. I think I am going to use it build back up at least for a while. I am also playing at a limit where about 1/2 the hands will earn me a FPP.

I noticed tonight that I might get to silver status this month. It would be the first time. I'm not even sure how the program works, but I only have 474 FPP to go. I have nt really played on stars since they implemented that program. To give you an idea. I have 1,833 VPP's, 1,026 were earned this month, and 741 of those were earned in the last week and a half.

I hope I can get a free Pezz dispenser with my FPP's, one with lee jones head on it. I can put green pezz in his head and pretend they are dollars.

bad table selection can be a bitch....

I got some play in tonight, but would have been better off if i hadnt.

I played 2 $16 stt's. blanked in both. Bubbled in one when my QQ ran into A6o... how do you call off your chips with A6o? this wasnt short stack vs big stack. We both had just under the CL with a short stack on the table.

I also lost about 35bb in the horse game. I sat in a super fishy game, intentionally. If these guys wouldnt hit miracle cards on 7th street my br would have been over 1k today.... I took some serious bad beats. Had wired 9's busted to a 7th street gutshot with only 2 outs.... I was actually down alot more than 35bb but fought back, and was having a good run on another table.

Anyway my bankroll is down to $255.44. I dont think I am going to play or do any poker tommorrow. I was reading pokerrinds grind blog (in blog roll) and I think I should spend some time with my wife.

this morning

I played a little while drinking my coffee and waking up. I was back at it on the HORSE games, and threw in a little NL 6 max $10 max, as well as 2 $16 turbo STT's, and a $2 triple shoot out.

The horse game was kinda short, my shortest yet actually, but I ended up ~20 I think.

I didnt make it past my first table of the dbl shoot out. I dominated the table early and had a monster chip stack going into HU. my opponent hit a couple of key suckouts (like rivered straight vs my AA, and floping a 9 with his K9 vs my AK) Not much time wrapped up in it, and it was fun.

Only played the 6 max for ~10 hands, the nswitched to horse. I had a profit of ~$0.30. I actually thought it was a $0.05/$0.1 table but it was a $0.02/$0.05. I decided not to continue.

In my STT's I placed 5th in the first one. a bummer, but got my $ in with QQ vs AK. No worries though I was less than avg stack and blinds were getting high (100/200)

In my second STT I finished second. I kinda jacked it up a little. I was out chipped by 1k, on button (sb) opponent raised 4x, and I pushed on him I had A6s, he had A9o. Neither of us caught anything and it was game.

I have some household matters to tend to today so I most likely wont get any any more pokering the rest of the day, or even tonight. My bankroll is now $365.14. I am thinking about pulling it out of stars though incase they offer a deposit bonus for the WCOOP. Might go back to UB for a while and hit the 6 max NL.

pimpin HOES in HORSE

ok... I know my last post was about the mixed game on stars, but i cant help myself.

This game is the nuts! some much +EV. It so freaking juicy. If you have anysort of Stud skills you need to get in these games.

Unfortunately for me the lowest limit is 1/2, so I'm not practicing the smartest bankroll mangement. However, there are tons of players in these gmaes that are way more under bankrolled. I have seen guys sit in with ~$20, and go broke in an instant. I'm not as concerned about my bankroll shortcomings b/c of the split games. and Obv razz is an low action game unless you have some total fishcake in it. (I did pickup a $48 pot from one with my 6543A)I love it when the players are asking how to play Razz.

I did have some suckouts a couple of hands, but cant be avoided in limit games. It just sucks when you know the other guy is on the low, but manages to 2 pair on 7th street and scoop.

I have been playing at least one cycle through the games, but have sat in up to 4 or 5 rotations. I am definetly hooked on these games for the time being.

Growing up draw was the first poker game I learned. Stud was the second and most common. I am pretty good at reading hands and valuing my draws.

So besides my Horse play, I played a 180 man $22. I finished about 90th. I was on the button and opened for a raise 3x. bb pushed on me. I had AQs. I had pushed on him the last 3 hands we were involved together, and he folded. I really though about it and felt like he was trying to make a statement that he was tired of me coming over the top of him. I checked the lobby, and if I were to dbl up I would be in the top 7 and could really start abusing ppl with my stack. I elected to make the call. I was right in my read he showed A9o. the flop came all 9xx with 2 of my suit. Unfortunately I didnt catch a Q or a diamond and was out. I then went back to my mixed games :o)

So the bankroll took a nice boost today. I am now at $312.39.

Stars just introuduced a gold mine for the multifaceted player. HORSE, HOSE, and RAZZ cash games.

imagine a bad player at limit holdem, now throw 4 more games in front of them that they dont understand and rake it in. sure you will get the occassional bad beat by the player playing cards that should have ben folded without thought, but you'll pick up plenty to make up for those losses.

I played HOSE tonight 1/2 limit. i actually meant to sit at a horse table, but realized it was hose when razz was skipped.

I played 2 roatations, 8 hands of each game for 64 hands. I left the table up 23bb. :-)

I also played a $6 turbo and blanked in that. was nt paying enough attention, b/c of trying to pick out the weak players in the hose game.

I'm looking forward to more of the mixed game action.

I also sat in some cash games. I got stacked with FH over FH (damn river) and lost $10, I think I lost another buyin but dont remeber how it happened exactly...

I also played round of horse on stars they are only offering 1/2 limit and higher. 8 hands of each game. I picked up ~5bb. the play was pretty good, but i think thats b/c i picked a table with a lower vpip.

bankroll is down to ~$125 right now.

I playeda 16 turbo. obv bigger than my bankroll should allow, but thought i'd take a shot. Let me preface this by saying that I have a very high ITM and ROI in the 16's that i have played in the past. i dont know the exact #'s but you can look them up on sharkscope if you feel inclined. I dont have a membership and dont really wish too. in fact once i get to a +profit over my entire stars history i am going to block my stats. not bad considering I took a hit at 25/50 and was down to 610 chips UTG+1. I put no bad beats on anyone, and got my chips in with the best hands (except my 35d) to make my recovery.

the bankroll is up to $161.38. I am probably going to call it a night as far as playing poker goes. I might watch some material on one of the training sites but thats it. Had a long day up at 5am home from work at 7pm took wife to casual dinner and home at 9pm. kind of dragging and getting loopy. hence all the skeeting i did.

early morning session

Today my wife had a dr's appt, and daughter started back to school. I was up early and had to watch the kids while my wife went to the dr.

I played a little $0.02/$.05 6 max NL. I have to say that short handed cash games are my favorite. I figured I can play the nickle game without much risk of ruin. I was shocked how soft the competition on pokerstars is at this level. On UB at the .05/.1 level there is still some pretty solid players, but IIRC they dont have short handed tables.

Anyway, In my short session (~30 mins) I picked up 2 buyins or ~$10's. I'm not sure exactly what my profit was but thats probably a fair estimate.

My bankroll is now $137.86. Almost a $100 increase in 4 days. I am definetly happy with these results. I am not going to get out of line though and am going to try and plug away at my goal of $500 by October 8th. If I reach that goal sooner great!, of not great! I'm going to stay focused and just slowly build and grind.

I read an interesting myth/rumor about Jamie Gold yesterday. Apparently he is Johnny Chans agent. I knew Johnny Chan was helping coach him during the WSOP. I guess Chan worked out a 10% deal with Gold. Pretty sweet for Chan. Apparently Gold also gave 50% of himself to a friend who helped him secure a celebrity for bodog. The celebrity was party of the deal that got Gold into the WSOP on a freeroll.

So after paying out his %'s and taxes Gold took down nearly the same as Alan Cunningham in 4th place.

this has to be the longest turbo i have ever played. 5 handed was 49 hands, 4 handed was another 16. the blinds were crazy high compared to stack sizes. the tournament lasted 44 mins.

it was obv rigged so that i would win, but not until the other guy got a fake glimmer of hope.

You may notice some changes

I had originally considered abandonding this blog. I ran like shit again, and killed my bankroll. I got mixed up in playing some mddle limit Stud H/L (4/8)and played a couple of $50 & $100 MTT's. As a result I ran my bankroll down to nada.

It sucked, its the first time I have gone broke this year. Not completely broke b/c I had a small rakeback payment coming, but broke at the moment.

I redeposited $48 and set out to rebuild and actually follow bankroll management, once I had a working bankroll that is.

I setup a new blog at purechaospoker.blogspot.com. I was posting each of my STT results. Apparently blogger took this as a sign that my blog was a spam blog. First they made me use character recognition with each post, and then the suspended my account all together.

I was working on redesigning my blog template and carried over the changes I have made so far. I still have alot more changes in mind, but need to find the time to implement them.

I am pretty embarrassed that I went BUSTO due to my poor bankroll management. Even though the web is an annonymous forum, I feel that I have let myself down.

I am goign to go slow and steady from here on out, and keep a handle on my irrational bankroll management problems.

I have (or will be carrying over the significant posts from my other blog and then I am going to ditch it, or only use it to post individual game summaries if they reinstate it.

As of today my bankroll is back to $120 and I moving forward.

so in reviewing these #'s it becomes obvious that I am doing better at the turbos. I attribute this to the fact that if you play junk the affects are multiplied b/c of the quickly escalating blinds. I normally dont play anything except premiums and in late position i will play suited connectors and try to steal after the flop.

I am happy to be able to add to my bankroll. my total profit from stt's is $46.50, but i have played a couple of micro MTT's. 1 or 2 $1.50 45 man turbos, and a $2.2 triple shoot out to the sunday million. Obv these tourneys were blanks for me. It was just for something different. I also played a couple of FPP freerolls, but blanked in those as well. I also lost a little playing nickle dime O8b.

So my bankroll has increased $43.91 minus my blanks. that is a 91% increase from friday. I'll definetly book it. I have a long way to go, but hopefully I am on the right track.

I will be geting a rakeback payment soon. Its nothing large, just under $30. I am going to miss not getting rakeback, since i am playing on stars.

I will continue playing the $6 turbo's. I have done well in the past at teh $15's and look forward to playing them, but I am not going to risk ruin. I am already skating thin right now but when taking into the rake I think I am better off playing $6's instead of $3's. In a $6, the rake is 8.3%, in a $3 the rake is 13.3%.

So my short term goal is to move my bankroll up to $500 (~30 buyins) before I move up to the $15+1 turbos. It is going to be a slow grind. If I am able to keep up with my current overall ROI of 28% it will take me ~215 more stt's. My STT's are averaging ~30 mins each. so that equates to ~108 hours. I do not multitable, and dont really plan to pick it up until my bankroll is bigger. I will probably avg 1 hour per night 2 STT's before bed and after the wife/kids go to bed. and ~8 hours on the weekend. That is going to put me on avg at 13 hours per week of play. My goal should be to break $500 by the first week of October.

Obviously I hope I can pull this off a little earlier, but if not I now realize that slow and stead is really the way to go. Right now I am using a trial version of a STT tracking application. The cost of the app is $35 and I will probably pull that out of my bankroll also.

The WSOP ME is over. I watched it live up until the dinner break. Great insight and guest commentaries. I hope they release the entire final table on dvd this year.

Anyway, I have a small bankroll to work with now. It is only $48, but its something. I am also still waiting on a rakeback payment that should come in this week. I wont be getting any rakeback payments next month though b/c I havent played any cash games this month.

I have been playing ultimatepoint stt's on UB. I have been doing pretty well too, although the cash value is minimal.

I have decided not to play the turbo STT's with my limited bankroll. To much variance and a quick escalation to push or fold unless you are the CL. I am going to play $5.5 STT's. I currently have just under 9 buyins. I need to hit the ground running and play to cash if I am going to make it.

I dont like the play to cash mentality, really I like to push every edge I get, but when building a bankroll its more important to cash than push edges. My edge right now needs to be able to dodge -EV situations.

So I am going to start chronicling all my play. I will be playing on poker stars exclusively. Mainly b/c I like the changes they have made to their software recently, and there is plenty of soft competition.
